The second week of my holidays is almost drawing to a close. It has been a blissful week of relaxing, with a secondary goal of continuing with my mammoth purge. The sense of calm and clearness that I’ve been aiming for have blossomed within my bedroom this evening, with the post-purge tidy up finally happening. There’s still more to do, but the right feeling is now here. And as I lie in bed listening to the late night news of the radio, the contrast between my immediate surroundings (serene, warm) and the world outside (crazy, chaotic) seems greater than ever. I think particularly of events in Norway. It’s beyond my comprehension to imagine how awful such attacks must be. All I know is that it makes my desire to find sanctuary and refuge in the environments I can control even greater.
